Mary Jane Elmore, has been active in the software and information technology industries since the late 1970s. She joined the venture capital firm of Institutional Venture Partners, Menlo Park, CA in 1982 and was made a General Partner in 1983.  At IVP, Ms. Elmore has focused on investments in the fields of software, communications and computer-aided engineering. She has served as a general partner in seven IVP funds and has served on the Board of Directors of numerous private and public information technology companies.

Ms Elmore has been an investor in early stage start-up companies as well as in companies that are raising expansion capital.  Prior to joining IVP, Ms. Elmore was a marketing manager at Intel Corporation’s Development Systems Division. Ms. Elmore was part of a small team of professionals across all divisions of Intel that worked closely with the sales force to achieve market leadership of Intel microprocessors in the early 1980s.  Currently Ms. Elmore is an advisor to the IVP funds and a private angel investor.

Ms. Elmore has also served as a Director of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists (WAVC), the Purdue University Mathematics Advisory Council and the Stanford Business School Trust. Ms. Elmore is currently an Independent Director of the American Funds, a group of publicly traded mutual funds managed by Capital Research and Management. Ms. Elmore is a member of the Board of Trustees of Sacred Heart Schools in Atherton, CA. Ms. Elmore earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Purdue University in 1976 and an M.B.A. from Stanford University in 1982.
