Michael Crockett

Mr. Crockett has over 23 years of experience working in the Biotechnology drug development industry.  For 10 years, Mr. Crockett worked at Scios Inc. where he was a senior member of the corporate management board, reporting directly to the CEO.  An experienced and respected leader at Scios, Mr. Crockett played an important role in managing and directing the Scios drug development program for both new molecular entities and established marketed products as the Sr. Director of Project Management and Drug Development.  Mr. Crockett was the project team leader during the critical Phase III development for the company's lead project, Natrecor® (nesiritide), which was developed to treat patients with acute congestive heart failure (aCHF).  Simultaneously, Mr. Crockett led the Scios Regulatory Affairs department and managed all Natrecor® interactions with the Food and Drug Administration.  In 2001 Natrecor® was approved by the FDA, and in early 2003, Scios was acquired by Johnson and Johnson for $2.4 billion.  Post integration with Johnson and Johnson, Mr. Crockett served several important roles in assisting with the Scios transition.
 
Prior to joining Scios in 1997, Mr. Crockett worked at Genentech for over 12 years.  During that time, he served in a variety of managerial positions in Regulatory Affairs and manufacturing operations that supported the clinical development and commercialization of its then leading products: Protropin® and Nutropin®; Activase®, Pulmozyme® and Actimmune®.
 
Additionally, Mr. Crockett resides on the Board of Directors for two non-profit organizations; San Francisco Giants Community Fund and Mercy High School, Burlingame.  Mr. Crockett received his B.S. degree in biochemistry and his B.A. degree in philosophy from St. Mary's College of California.
