Stephen Pollitt

Steve Pollitt has over 19 years experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.  His career began with Scios (later acquired by Johnson & Johnson) where he was in charge of host cell development for biologics heading into clinical testing.  One of these products, Natrecor®, received FDA approval in 2001 as a treatment for acute congestive heart failure.  He served as Project Leader on several early phase drug discovery and development projects, most recently as Compound Development Team Lead for VEGF-121.  He also served on the target selection committee which evaluated targets for the company’s small molecule development platform.

Steve is currently an independent consultant working with drug development teams at start-ups and virtual companies where he assists with management of the drug development process and molecular biology of protein expression.

Steve holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN and a B.S. in Chemistry with honors from the University of Georgia.  He was a postdoctoral fellow at SUNY, Stony Brook and a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ in Piscataway.
