Virginia Rath holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from UCSF. She has worked on the research side in pre-clinical drug development for 12 years, starting at Pfizer where she played a major role in taking a new class of diabetes drugs into Phase III clinical trials. Subsequently, she returned to California to join a UC startup, Thios Pharmaceuticals, as Head of Structural Biology and employee number 10. In 2004, she started Reciprocal Space Consulting, which provides scientific support for Biotech and BigPharma companies. In December, 2006 she will graduate with dual MBA degrees from Columbia University and the Haas Business School at UC Berkeley.
